Portfolio Section 3: Scotland

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama


Melanie was accepted to the highly-regarded Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now called the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. There she pursued an MA in Classical and Contemporary Text. The course focused on performance through text-based works from both the classical canon and new writing. Melanie and her cohort traveled to London for a month's residency training at Shakespeare's Globe. They participated in The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and presented platform presentations of new plays by three of Scotland's top playwrights in Glasgow, London, and Edinburgh.

Melanie completed an internship at Playwrights' Studio, Scotland, helping to support the development of new plays. 

Melanie also wrote and performed in, Dead In Scotland, presented at the On the Verge Festival at The Arches in Glasgow.

Melanie earned a Master of Arts in Classical and Contemporary Text (Acting) with Merit from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now called the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). The conservatory training included studies in the performance of classic texts and new writing, voice, movement, and site-specific theatre.
