Professional Pedagogy: Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

Melanie traveled to London to pursue an MFA in Creative Producing from the renowned Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. During her two year residency in London, Melanie worked with Musical Theatre Network and Mercury Musical Developments, Hampstead Theatre, and Homer Simpson Productions. She augmented her education and network through membership and training workshops at the Independent Theatre Council.


Melanie's projects in London included marketing assistance on Dutch comedian Hans Teeuwen's Real Rancour UK Tour and The Festival at Hampstead Theatre. Melanie was a production assistant on Mercury Musical Developments and Musical Theatre Network's BEAM showcase of new musical works and industry presentations of Dougal Irvine's new musical, Angry Birds. For the Audio Visual Arts Festival, celebrating digital art and electronic music in Belfast, Melanie was a sponsorship assistant to the festival's lead producer.

Melanie also initiated and led on projects. She was a producer for 8Squared: A Night of New Writing featuring eight eight-minute short plays by Central's scriptwriting students.

Collaborating with playwright Diana Barnes, Melanie produced and directed a two-day script development workshop to further the progress of Diana's script Moon Rocks and Astronauts.

With recent graduates of ArtsEd actor training program in London, Melanie established Six40 Theatre and produced their first production of the Emerging Artists Showcase.

Melanie earned her Master of Fine Art in Creative Producing from the University of London at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
